A Bit of a detective story for you - we have been sent the attached pictures. The lady in a maid's uniform is called Mary, and around wartime she was in service with a family in Borough Green. She had a son with a soldier who died later during the War.

The photos were taken during August 1942. Her name was Mary Gardiner Copp. We believe her soldier friend was possibly a Benjamin or Frederick Fergus[s]on. But my friend said his mother, Mary, was a little vague about his name! It is possible from Mary's  recollection that he was a member of the Pioneer Corps during WWII.

The son is now trying to find out where this house is, and who the family are, and any other memories. Click on the pictures for bigger versions. any ideas  - email Mike
